Hermann Biner was only 15 years old when he climbed the Matterhorn in only 3 hours. This legendary record was unbeaten for almost 60 years.
The Hotel Silvana has started by Hermann Biner and his wife Ida’s idea to build a mountain cabin at Furi. Their children Dany and Evi have enlarged and modernized the house with a lot of enthusiasm to the present-day hotel.
We, the family pamper our guests supported by a standing staff and we are proud to have many many returning guests every year who all take part in the Silvana-family.

Meanwhile the third generation is part of the team: Marc Biner, Dany’s son, graduate hotel manager and future mountain- and ski guide. All of us share the aim to make the hotel Silvana to the favourite hotel of our guests.
Also the nature around the Matterhorn has a special place in our hearts. Dany was with 18 years the youngest Swiss mountain guide. He lives not only in the mountains but for them. He loves to share his skills in ice-climbing and mountaineering, skiing, canyoning and his experience as a mountain expedition member.
He worked for decades in the mountain rescue team. Two expeditions in the Himalaya and numberless ascents of the Matterhorn belong to his career as a mountain guide. Therefore it is self-evident that we all protect our nature and stand for an environmentally sustainable economy and a considerate exploitation of our resources.

The family Biner and their standing staff are one community who live in the mountains. The environment has a great impact on our thinking and the respect for nature is self-evident.
Our hearts beat faster when the first snowflakes fall and every season we are looking forward to hitting the slopes and untouched parts of the mountains. We would like to share this passion for the Alpine with you, our guests.
We use regional products from the canton of Valais, our management is sustainable and we love to share our experiences and skills as local mountain-and ski guides with our guests. Cordial, committed hospitality and personal care are as important as the respecful interaction between family, staff and guests.
